Starlight Site

A Starlight Site is a beautifully designed, inviting hospital environment that supports the healing of pediatric patients during their hospital visit.

Teen patients at University of Maryland Children’s Hospital wished for an upgraded teen room that would offer a respite within the hospital environment where they could play, create, socialize, relax, laugh, connect and just be teens. Brothers and sisters are affected by illness and hospitalization as well, so the teen room also serves siblings, providing a fun environment where siblings can spend time together and do “normal kid stuff.” The teen room is a place where children and teens are empowered to make their own choices, providing developmentally appropriate support for independence, control and a sense of normalcy. The gift of this Starlight Site has provided an updated, inviting and relaxing space for the teen patients and teen siblings at University of Maryland Children’s Hospital.

Thanks to the generosity of Northwestern Mutual, this Starlight Site is finished and open.
